Garlic and Garlic Scapes

We probably don’t need to tell you how to use garlic, but you may not be as familiar with garlic scapes,- that’s the tender tendril that shoots up from the center of the plant and if you let it, will bloom. We harvest these as soon as they form a bud to encourage root development, but they’re a delicious “bonus”. Our favorite ‘go to’ recipe for scapes is Pesto!

We’ve linked an easy to follow recipe, but experiment! A combination of scapes and basil is lovely! Can’t find pine nuts? Try walnuts or sunflower seeds!
